The 1993 volume, published while the Secret Service was on trial over the Steve Jackson Games raid and the magazine's attention was moving to cellular telephony and cable.

Spring runs "Cellular Magic," "Trouble in the White House," beige box construction, "Descrambling Cable," "Secret Service on Trial," "A Study of Hackers" and "Getting Your File." Summer prints a guide to the 5ESS switch, "British Credit Holes," "High School Hacking," a DTMF decoder review, meeting advice and a toll fraud device. Autumn covers the Hacking at the End of the Universe camp, "The Wheel Cipher," Caller ID technicalities, "Hacking Honesty Tests," password cracking software, "Changing Your Grades," an overview of DSS1 and a review of Approaching Zero. Winter adds "Hackers in Jail, Part Two," "Cellular Phone Biopsy," "Elementary Switching," "Hacking Smartphone," NYNEX voice mail and digital locks.

Hacking at the End of the Universe, held on a Dutch campsite that August, is the second of the outdoor European gatherings the magazine covered, after the Galactic Hacker Party of 1989.
