2600: The Hacker Quarterly, Winter 1995-1996
The 1995 volume, dominated by two arrests: Kevin Mitnick in February and Ed Cummings, known to readers as Bernie S., a month later.
Spring leads with "The World vs. Kevin Mitnick" and runs "The Gold Card," ATM camera security, cellular interception techniques, "Hacking in Brazil," a 500 exchange guide and a review of Masters of Deception. Summer opens "The Bernie S. Saga" and adds new antiviral technologies, "The Gender Snooper," ATM tricks, "Hacking AS/400," war dialing and a second piece on cable denial. Autumn prints "No More Secrets," stealth trojans, "Military Madness," Macintosh key capturing, a COCOT resource guide, the mutation engine demystified, an ISDN overview and reviews of the films The Net and Hackers. Winter covers "What Happens on the AT&T Side," "A Spoofing Odyssey," "Infiltrating Disney," Ethernet sniffing, Verifone machines and the books The Fugitive Game and Takedown.
Both arrests became long campaigns in the magazine, and coverage of them continued in every volume for the rest of the decade.
