CDMX collects Grace Ahlbom's photographs of a group of boys skating through Mexico City, made on a Supreme trip in the spring of 2019 and printed the following year as she went back through her archive in quarantine.

The fourth zine in Dashwood Books' ongoing series with Ahlbom, this staple-bound, four-color publication runs 18 pages at 5 1/4 by 8 inches, issued in an edition of 300. Ahlbom has said the photographs read differently now than when she took them: what looked like a routine afternoon of skating in public space became, seen from indoors during lockdown, a record of a freedom that had briefly disappeared. Proceeds from the zine went to LGBT Books to Prisoners.

Ahlbom, who holds a BFA in photography from Pratt Institute, has built a body of work around teenage boys and the subcultures they form, and skating has been a recurring subject since her work first drew attention in fashion and photography circles.
