Jamais je ne t'oublierai is a 2019 artist's book by the French-Moroccan photographer Carolle Bénitah (1965–2024), in which anonymous flea-market photographs are reworked with gold leaf into a meditation on inherited memory and its gaps.

Published by L'Artiere Edizioni, curated by Laura Serani and designed by Teresa Piardi, the 56-page volume replaces Bénitah's own family archive — subject of her earlier book Photos Souvenirs — with photographs of strangers bought at flea markets. Faces are partly obscured under applied gold leaf, a surface that both erases and reflects, multiplying the identities of people whose names are lost. Bound in Japanese spiral stitching, it appeared in an edition of 1,000 and won the 2020 Prix HiP photography award.

Born in Casablanca in 1965, Bénitah trained at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and spent ten years as a fashion designer before turning to photography in 2001, graduating with distinction from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles. Represented by Galerie Clémentine de la Féronnière, she used embroidery, beading, and gold leaf on found and family photographs to work through memory and loss. She died in Marseille in 2024.

Notes

Dimensions conflict: L'Artiere's own product page lists 20.7 × 22.5 cm a secondary retailer listing (via web search synthesis) lists 33.3 × 23.5 cm. Used the publisher's own figure. Binding format described inconsistently — L'Artiere's page specifies Japanese spiral binding with duotone printing and gold hot-foil stamping without stating hard/soft explicitly recorded as Hardcover per secondary sources describing board covers. ISBN 9788887569841 confirmed across five independent retailer listings (Amazon, AbeBooks, Eyrolles, Leslibraires, Bol.com) though not directly visible as text on the publisher's own page. Artist Carolle Bénitah died in Marseille in 2024 per Art Media Agency obituary coverage (fr.artmediaagency.com) — reflected in bio/description. No personal official artist website found authors[0].url uses her Paris gallery, Galerie Clémentine de la Féronnière. Collage collection archiving, July 2026. Accessioned 2026-07-29.
