Posthuman Knowledge and the Critical Posthumanities by Rosi Braidotti

Posthuman Knowledge and the Critical Posthumanities

by Rosi Braidotti
Sternberg Press · 2024 · Paperback

A lecture by Rosi Braidotti, printed as a short book. It treats current technological and ecological crises as one condition.

Braidotti starts from contemporary contradictions: care robots, digital waste, synthetic biology and the climate crisis. She argues these must be considered together and calls the result a posthuman convergence. The text criticizes humanism and anthropocentrism. It turns to how knowledge is produced and how academic structures shape it, and asks for imagination, endurance, connectivity and perspectives that are embodied and grounded in the only world we have. It was delivered at Harvard's Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on 12 March 2019, with an introduction by John May.

The book is part of The Incidents, a series from Harvard Design Press and Sternberg Press edited by Ken Stewart and Marielle Suba. It is 80 pages in a small softcover format, designed by ELLA with Gabrielle Pulgar and published in December 2024.
