Cathy John

Cathy is John Carder Bush's photographic portrait of his younger sister, Kate Bush, made before her career as a musician began.

Published in 1986 in a limited first edition of 500 copies, the book collects unposed, affectionate black-and-white photographs taken over several years, showing Bush as a private, largely unknown teenager and young woman rather than the performer she would become. The pictures were taken by her brother rather than a professional photographing a public figure, giving the book an intimacy that later celebrity photo books rarely have.
