930 Vol 02: Concealed Identity 02: Transfiguration

A two-volume artist book and poster set from Melbourne artist and publisher Tim Coghlan, continuing his Concealed Identity series, a catalogue of masked and hidden faces drawn from the 930 Archive, the image collection he has amassed daily from the internet since 2017.

Subtitled Transfiguration, this second volume sequences hundreds of found black-and-white images of concealment (ceremonial masks, surgical theatre, riot gear, costume and disguise) in dense grids across 364 pages. Coghlan frames the work in combative terms: "this book is a lethal weapon," the publisher's note begins, positioning the collection as a talisman against those who would intrude on a life. Published as Knowledge Editions Book No. 47 in an edition of 50, the set comprises two perfect-bound volumes and a folded poster.

Coghlan is a graphic designer who founded the Knowledge Editions imprint in 2012, building an output of zines and books that catalogue found imagery. The first volume, 930 Vol 01: Concealed Identity (2024), collected 779 mask images sourced over five years, its design a nod to Hans-Peter Feldmann's Voyeur the exhibition Hidden Fortress at the Tokyo gallery commune surveyed twenty years of his notebooks.
