MONO Volume Two is the second hardback in Gomma Books' MONO series, a survey of contemporary black-and-white photography by 26 photographers.
The 256-page volume, printed in duotone on Fedrigoni paper in Italy, includes Matt Black, Martin Bogren, Dirk Braeckman, Giacomo Brunelli, Lorenzo Castore, Eamonn Doyle, JH Engström, Sohrab Hura, Paulo Nozolino, Magdalena Switek, Scott Typaldos and Miron Zownir, with Daido Moriyama as special guest. Christian Caujolle, Ilgin Deniz Akseloglu and Peggy Sue Amison contribute texts. It is bound in black cloth with silver hot-stamped titles and was issued in a numbered limited edition after a Kickstarter campaign.
MONO is independently produced by Gomma Books, edited by Luca Desienna, and the series is presented as a trilogy devoted to black-and-white work.
Notes
NOT a magazine: a limited-edition hardback anthology from Gomma Books, so classification Photography/Anthology not Magazines (brief anticipated Magazines). Only one plausible candidate found for 'Mono Volume Two'. Year 2015 from Anzenberger listing and colophon (printed August 2015). Editor Luca Desienna and co-editor Stella Stan from the colophon image on the Gomma page (read visually). Print run conflict: 1000 (Gomma/Anzenberger) vs '220 / 950' printed in a copy. Dimensions 24 x 30 cm: Gomma text said W x H but cover shape unseen; height_cm/width_cm left null. Cover: only angled close-ups of the cloth cover exist (cloth with foil title only); a low-res 500x333 abebooks image is used, needs replacing with a photo of the user's copy. Beat 3 says only that Desienna edits (colophon); that Gomma is his press is not confirmed.
