Los Angeles Standards
Los Angeles Standards is a photographic portrait of Los Angeles that presents the city through 15 ordinary typologies characteristic of its urban fabric.
1300 photographs taken between 2008 and 2012 by Caroline and Cyril Desroche, French architects who came to live and work in Los Angeles, are presented like a documentary. Organized in chapters, they make it possible to establish comparisons, analogies and correspondences between archetypes such as freeways, car parks, streets, construction sites, billboards, mini-malls, homes.
Each of these images is referenced by its address. As Los Angeles is embarking on a process of greatly increasing its existing density and transforming its infrastructure, this book is a visual testimony of its current state, its contemporary form and its urban history.
