Throughout the Universe in Perpetuity
Throughout the Universe in Perpetuity is a book of Daniel Everett's photographs of uniform cityscapes and decontextualized architectural structures, published in Paris by Études Books in 2015.
Everett took the title from a legal phrase used to define the extent of ownership rights or the boundaries of a contract, a phrase meant to extend control across all time and space. He describes the series as born of a similar preoccupation with control. In his own account it is a way to sort through his ambivalence about order and perfection while looking for a point where a space feels both alluring and unnerving. Études Studio edited and designed the book, with image post-production by Janvier. It is a first edition of 500 copies, November 2015, a 144-page hardcover printed in full-color offset, with text in English and French.
Everett has an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2009) and a BFA from Brigham Young University (2006). Études also published his earlier monograph Standard Edition in 2012. Actual Source issued Daniel Everett, in collaboration with New Tendency, and Vantage Point (2022), a two-person project with Mårten Lange.
