Contains 3 Books

Contains: 3 Books is a 2016 boxed set of three small photobooks by Jason Fulford, published by the Amsterdam imprint The Soon Institute.

The box holds three separately bound volumes -- Mild Moderate Severe Profound, I Am Napoleon, and && -- each edited, as with Fulford's other Soon Institute titles, by Lorenzo De Rita. The three books work as a set of loosely connected image sequences, continuing Fulford's interest in open-ended visual pairing over straightforward narrative or documentary sequencing.

Fulford, born in 1973, works primarily in the book form; his other titles include Sunbird (2000), Raising Frogs for $$$ (2006), The Mushroom Collector (2010), and Hotel Oracle (2013), also edited by De Rita for The Soon Institute. In 2000 he and Leanne Shapton founded the nonprofit publisher J&L Books, where he works as publisher, editor, and designer. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2014 and has taught at Harvard University.
