Amusement Park

A frenetic, candy-colored photobook by New York photographer David Brandon Geeting, Amusement Park pins his screen-native image-making to the printed page without dimming any of its glare.

Marrying a discordant blend of documentary photography, studio improvisations, and impertinent portraits, the sequence runs through frivolous entertainment, hobbyist tinkering, and the facade of luxury while always threatening to malfunction. Copenhagen imprint Lodret Vandret matched that energy in the object itself: four different paper stocks, traditional CMYK mixed with multicolor Pantone profiles developed by Swiss design studio Colorlibrary.ch, spray-can typography, and a plastic-wrapped cover. Published in 2017 in an edition of 500.

Geeting is a Brooklyn-based photographer whose deadpan, hyper-saturated still lifes and portraits move between personal projects and commissions for outlets including The New Yorker, TIME, Vogue, and Nike his books extend that sensibility into sequenced, object-like publications.
