Night Procession
Night Procession is a 2017 photobook by Stephen Gill, self-published under his own imprint, Nobody, with an accompanying text by the Norwegian novelist Karl Ove Knausgård.
The book continues Gill's practice of working outside the conventional camera, a method he has used across a body of self-published titles going back to 2004's A Book of Field Studies. Nobody, the imprint he founded to publish that early work, has since released the majority of his output, including Hackney Wick, Hackney Flowers, and The Pillar (2019), the last also written with Knausgård and winner of the 2019 Rencontres d'Arles author book award.
Gill, born in 1971, is a British photographer whose practice centers on self-publishing and experimental process, often using damaged, modified, or improvised cameras. His prints are held in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, and Tate, all in London.
