Hatje Cantz · 2014

Still Here is a series of photographs by Lydia Goldblatt (born London, 1978) that combines portraits of her parents with images of light, shadow and the passage of time.

Hatje Cantz published the book in English with texts by Christiane Monarchi and Goldblatt and a design by Tappin Gofton. It is a clothbound hardback of 92 pages with 45 photographs, 219 by 236 mm. The publisher describes the pictures as a meditation on mortality, time, love and loss. Many are limited to a single detail, such as a watch left on a shelf, a closed eyelid or a bee in the sun. Still Here was shown at the Felix Nussbaum Museum in Germany in 2013 and at Rick Wester Fine Art in New York in 2015.

Goldblatt draws on both documentary and constructed photography to consider origins, transience and emotional experience. Still Here is held in the National Art Library at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She received the Grand Prix at the 2014 Tokyo International Photography Festival and developed her series Instar during a 2016 residency at the Florence Trust in London. GOST Books published her series Fugue in June 2024.
