Jenna Gribbon: The Honeymoon Show!

by Jenna Gribbon
Lévy Gorvy Dayan · 2025 · Paperback

The Honeymoon Show! is Jenna Gribbon's third monograph, built around tender, theatrically staged portraits of her wife and muse set against scenes from their honeymoon in Thailand.

Published by Lévy Gorvy Dayan to accompany the exhibition of the same name at the gallery's New York space, the paperback juxtaposes documentary honeymoon imagery with a new series of posed portraits of the musician Mackenzie Scott, who performs as Torres, working through the dichotomies of fact and fiction, public and private, spontaneity and forethought. Clare Preston edited the volume, with an essay by Alison M. Gingeras on the reciprocal act of looking that structures Gribbon's paintings.

Gribbon (born 1978, Knoxville, Tennessee) has built her practice around domestic and intimate scenes of Scott, painted from a consciously subjective, often low or looking-up vantage point that reverses the usual position of painter and muse. The Honeymoon Show! extends that project into a more explicitly staged and theatrical register.
