The Who Live Leather Bound –
The Who Live is a limited-edition anthology of concert photographs of The Who by Ross Halfin and other photographers, available from Genesis Publications from January 2000.
Genesis says the photographs run from the band’s early shows in the 1960s to Pete Townshend’s Lifehouse concerts at Sadler’s Wells in London, with most weight on the 1970s tours. The book has 180 pages and 400 images, mostly unpublished, and includes the last photographs of Keith Moon playing live. Halfin and Matt Kent contribute observations, with a foreword by Townshend, an introduction by Bill Curbishley and a middleword by Glyn Johns. Genesis lists a slipcase printed with a collage of images on Italian paper and a gold CD of The Who Live at Leeds pressed for the edition.
Genesis issued two versions. The Collector edition was 1,250 copies signed by Halfin. The Deluxe edition was 250 copies bound in full red leather with gold tooling and gold page edging, signed by Halfin and Townshend.
Halfin was born in London in 1957 and studied painting at Wimbledon School of Art from 1975 before turning to concert photography. According to Wikipedia, he began at Sounds in the 1970s and became chief photographer of Kerrang! in 1980. Genesis also published his Sojourner: Ross Halfin Travels in 2011.
