Purple Book

The Jeanette Hayes Purple Book is Hayes's contribution to Purple's ongoing Purple Books series, produced by Purple Institute as Purple Book #23 alongside Purple Fashion Magazine issue 24, Fall/Winter 2015-2016.

Like the other entries in the series, it takes the form of a small saddle-stitched booklet packaged with the magazine rather than sold as a standalone monograph, giving one artist a dedicated space apart from Purple's regular editorial pages.

Hayes works primarily as a painter, mixing anime and manga references with quotations from historical painting. The Purple Books format, cheap and tied to a single issue, gave her a quick outlet for that work outside the gallery system, the same role it played for artists across the series from Rita Ackermann to Dash Snow.
