Open Nightly

Open Nightly is a self-published photobook by the Chicago photographer Liv Hoffman, distributed through Dashwood Books in New York in 2016 as a softcover first edition, signed, and sold out shortly after release.

At 480 pages, it is the longest of the small run of self-published titles, including Irving Dreams and Crash, that Hoffman released in the mid-2010s through the same independent photography bookshop, part of a body of self-distributed work built outside gallery or publisher structures.

Hoffman studied photography at the Art Institute of Chicago and has shown installations and prints from her Pilsen Series at Parasol Projects in New York, alongside a photography award from the musician Juicy J that led to a Vice magazine feature. Her pictures have also appeared in National Geographic and the Miami Herald, work that runs alongside the small-run photobooks she continues to self-publish.
