Surf Goddess: Beauty Meets the Beach

Sam Kash’s Surf Goddesses: Beauty Meets the Beach is a book of black-and-white photographs of women in bathing suits on beaches around New York, made from his own motion-picture film.

Radius Press in New York published it in 1995 as a first edition of 157 pages, in a quarto format with glued, photo-illustrated wrappers and black-and-white plates. A library catalogue record notes that most of the photographs are frames from Kash’s film Surf Goddesses of Galaxy X. A bookseller describing a review copy says the images were rephotographed from films Kash shot between 1981 and 1992.

A biographical note laid into that review copy, as the same bookseller reports it, calls Kash an author of books on mathematics and psychology.
