Passengers is a series of photographs by Dagmar Keller and Martin Wittwer that began at a bus station in Poland.
According to Spector Books, the two were travelling through the country at night when they noticed the passengers of an old bus in the pale light of the station. Stained, ice-covered windows blurred the view, and the people looked like figures in a painting. The series keeps those brief, quiet moments, with the glass holding the faces close and out of reach.
Spector published the 164-page book in Leipzig as a thread-sewn, cloth-bound hardcover with a jacket and 114 colour illustrations. It later issued Keller and Wittwer’s Point de départ (2016), which photographs people behind the windows of public buses in Paris.
