Puss Puss Issue 5 by Sandy Kim

Puss Puss Issue 5

by Sandy Kim
Puss Puss · 2017 · Softcover

Issue 5 of Puss Puss, the London fashion and culture biannual, was guest-curated by Heathermary Jackson and released with four alternating covers, one of them Sandy Kim's photograph of the artist and actress India Salvor Menuez.

Alongside Kim's cover story, the issue carries Juergen Teller's portrait of Grace Coddington, Gia Coppola's photograph of the model Jane Moseley, and a shoot by Ren Hang, to whom the issue was dedicated following his death earlier that year. Editorial content runs from an interview with the sound artist Michel Gaubert to a profile of the artist Sue Webster, alongside further photography and styling from a rotating list of contributors.

Sandy Kim's photography is built on close, unguarded pictures of friends and lovers, shot on flash-lit film in a snapshot style that carried her from zines and Rookie Mag into fashion and magazine editorial. This issue's cover story, a portrait of India Salvor Menuez, sits within that same body of work, made the same year Kim's photographs began appearing more widely in magazines such as Puss Puss.
