Four Oranges, Some Office Buildings, Woman's Legs
Four Oranges, Some Office Buildings, Woman’s Legs is a 32-page book of Stephanie Kiwitt’s photographs of the outskirts of Brussels, made on commission in 2014.
Kiwitt’s site says the Team Flemish Government Architect commissioned the work between August and November 2014, covering an area that runs from Diegem, Haren and Zaventem to Anderlecht, Jette and Vilvoorde. She writes that these neighboring areas are too different to be captured in one image, and that the book orders its double pages by aesthetic form, not by where each picture was taken. It is a self-covering booklet of 30 color offset plates, edited and designed with Jurgen Maelfeyt, with a text by Steven Humblet, in an edition of 500. Art Paper Editions published it in 2015, and Kiwitt showed the work at Riot in Ghent that year.
Kiwitt’s later books include two from Spector Books. Flächenland (2023) and Fortlaufend (2025) both come from her photographs of Saxony-Anhalt. Fortlaufend collects 86 black-and-white photographs, and her site lists a bronze medal for it at the German Photo Book Award.
