Pigxtras

Pigxtras is Harmony Korine's contribution to the Purple Institute's Purple Books series, a run of small artist-made volumes issued as special editions alongside Purple Fashion Magazine.

Each Purple Book pairs the magazine's fashion-and-art circle with a single artist given free rein over a standalone object; Korine's entry carries the loose, image-first, collage sensibility that runs through his photographic and film work. The library's copy is catalogued as Purple Book #9, part of a set alongside other artist volumes in the same series, including Helmut Lang's Selective Memory Series.

Korine has described his films, photography, and other art projects as pieces of a single, unified sensibility rather than separate practices, and Pigxtras belongs to that same body of image-making outside of his cinema work.
