Black Mirrors is the first monograph devoted to Julien Langendorff (b. 1982), gathering the Paris-based artist's early collage, drawing, and painting practice into a single fabric-bound artist's book.
Co-published in 2012 by Galerie du Jour – agnès b. (Paris) and Shelter Press (Brussels), the book accompanied Langendorff's solo exhibition Goddess Fuzz Fantasy at agnès b. gallery, New York. Across 64 unpaginated, bilingual French/English pages it gathers pen-and-ink drawings, paper cut-outs of 1970s erotic imagery, and abstract, saturated paintings floating dark, dreamlike forms against black grounds — drawing on gothic and hippie counterculture, Black Sabbath, and spiritism. Bound in thick cardboard wrapped in gray fabric, it includes texts by Langendorff, a handwritten letter from agnès b., Sinziana Ravini, and Peter Sutherland.
Langendorff studied at the École Duperré in Paris and has exhibited in New York, Tokyo, and Berlin since 2005 he met agnès b. in 2009, leading to his representation by Galerie du Jour. He also performs in the doom-psychedelic band Pillars of Fire and records solo as Skate Witches. Black Mirrors captures an early, painting-forward moment that later gave way to the denser, collage-driven work of his subsequent books and zines.

Co-publication CONFIRMED from multiple independent sources: Les presses du réel's own product page (distributor of record for Galerie du Jour titles) lists 'published with agnès b.' an academic review in Critique d'art (OpenEdition Journals, journals.openedition.org/critiquedart/8161) and aggregated bibliographic citations independently give the same imprint line verbatim: 'Paris: Galerie du Jour – agnès b. Brussels: Shelter Press, 2012.' Both publisher names are therefore verified, not assumed. Perimeter Books' listing for this title gave conflicting data (2011, 48pp, and a description about 'Saturday morning cartoons' that does not match this book at all — looks like a template/data error on their product page) and was NOT used for any field it is kept only as a distributor link.
