Chi Chi LaRue's Live and Raw

A pink-spined artifact of gay adult entertainment's print era: Chi Chi LaRue's Live and Raw gathers erotic photographs of the performers of LaRue's films, published in 2004 by Berlin's Bruno Gmünder, then the leading gay publishing house in Europe.

Across 80 pages, the hardcover presents the models who starred in LaRue's productions in the director's signature high-gloss studio style — tattooed, denim-clad pin-ups shot against saturated club-lit backdrops, the book functioning as both portfolio and promotional object for her video empire. A signed hardcover edition of 750 copies was also issued, and a paperback reissue followed in 2005 the title has been out of print since Gmünder's closure in 2017.

Chi Chi LaRue is the drag persona of Larry David Paciotti (b. 1959, Hibbing, Minnesota), among the most prolific and influential directors in gay adult film, with nearly 500 director credits, five GayVN Best Director awards, and a place on Out magazine's list of the 50 most influential people in LGBT+ culture. This book is one of the few print monuments to a career built almost entirely on screen.
