Linderism is the catalogue for the first UK museum survey of the British artist Linder (b. 1954), published by Kettle's Yard, University of Cambridge, and Koenig Books to accompany her 2020 Cambridge retrospective.
The volume reproduces work spanning Linder's career, from the punk-era photomontages she began exhibiting in Manchester fanzines through her later photographic and performance work, alongside working drawings and research images. Four essays, by James Boaden, Alyce Mahon, Amy Tobin and Sarah Victoria Turner, address her methods of image-making and her turn toward spirituality and the occult, edited by Amy Tobin with Alina Khakoo. Designed by Julie Peeters, the paperback runs 128 pages with 50 color and 50 black-and-white reproductions.
Curated by Amy Tobin, the exhibition was the first UK survey to trace the full breadth of Linder's practice, positioning her within a longer history of British feminist art rather than only the post-punk milieu that first brought her attention. It drew on Linder's decades-long collaboration with Morrissey, her design commissions for fashion houses including Richard Nicoll, and new site-specific performances staged across Kettle's Yard, reassessing her legacy within British feminist art history.
