WET
WET is an artist’s book by Jurgen Maelfeyt whose subject is water.
Art Paper Editions, the publishing platform Maelfeyt founded, issued it in April 2021 in an edition of 500. Maelfeyt designed and edited it. The book has 48 pages of color illustrations and is bound in linen-covered hardcover. Text on the publisher’s page for his later book Toy, taken from a Face magazine piece, says Wet and Furs take their subjects, water and fur, quite literally, as found in 1970s porn.
Maelfeyt runs the Ghent design studio 6’56” and teaches graphic design. According to Office magazine he has published books through Art Paper Editions since 2010. In an interview there he said he thinks of himself as an image maker more than a photographer, because he works by re-photographing things. His earlier APE books include Lips (2018) and Furs (2019), and Toy followed in 2024.
