Colors

Colors is a book of color photographs by Yoshinori Mizutani, a photographer based in Tokyo, published by Amana.

A description quoted on Google Books, credited there to Amazon and citing the curator Ivan Vartanian, places Mizutani among a Tumblr generation of photographers who keep a running photo stream, follow other users and repost images. It reads his vertical format as a reference to the hand-held screen and notes that his light is artificial, from ambient sources and flash, which keeps a purely natural world out of reach. The same description calls the resulting view of Japanese aesthetics disconcerting yet beautiful.
