A Work Will Be Shown: Artist's Invitations and Announcements 1960-2025
A pocket-sized anthology of the printed cards artists send to announce their shows, edited by Maurizio Nannucci from the collection he has gathered since the 1960s.
The book reproduces invitations and announcements in twelve thematic categories, among them "Welcome to the Opening," "Show A Performance" and "Words Drawings and Diagrams." The cards use images, text, photography, typography, colour and a range of papers, and many came to Nannucci from friends, colleagues, galleries and museums, so the sequence also traces a network of exchanges between artists. The 360-page paperback measures 10.5 x 18 cm and is printed in four colours plus a fluorescent pantone, with essays by Gabriele Detterer and Emanuele De Donno. It was published by Viaindustriae of Foligno, with Zona Archives and the COLLi publishing platform credited in some listings.
Nannucci, born in 1939, is an Italian artist, and here he works as collector and editor of other artists' mail rather than as the author of the cards.
