Nobody Knows
Nobody Knows reproduces drawings and written notes from Yoshitomo Nara’s notebooks in facsimile.
Nara’s official bibliography dates the first Little More edition to 2001 and lists a revised edition from FOIL in Kyoto in 2005. Booksellers describing the first edition report more than a hundred drawings and text in English and Japanese. They also note a thick illustrated cover that folds out.
Nara was born in 1959 in Aomori prefecture, Japan. His official site says he makes drawings daily on materials such as torn-off note paper and used envelopes, and that in them he bares his emotions and thoughts at a distance from theory. He completed a master’s degree at Aichi University of the Arts in 1987, moved to Germany in 1988 to study at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, and returned to Japan in 2000.
