A staple-bound volume of collages by the Brazilian artist Caco Neves, Why I Hustle to Feed My Pimp turns images appropriated from digital photographic archives into pointed visual reflections on human rights, militarism, and sexuality.

Printed in Colombia by Calipso Press in 2016 as part of the 'More is More' collection, in a first edition of 300 copies, the book works by cutout and juxtaposition: found images are resignified through severing and recombination, opening new possibilities of reading — as on the cover, where two mid-century heads lean back from facing chairs into an open scream.

Neves's research-driven collage practice sits within a wider South American small-press current, and Calipso Press of Cali has become one of its notable engines, printing artists' editions that move between graphic design, protest, and the found image.
