Pud 3 by Jason Nocito

Pud 3

by Jason Nocito
Dashwood Books · 2015 · Hardcover, cloth-bound boards with foil-blocked title

PUD 3 closes the trilogy in the same terms it opened with: a single lowercase word on a cloth board, and no explanation offered inside.

Dashwood Books published it in 2015, a year after the first two volumes. It is bound in navy bookcloth with pud blocked large across the front board in silver foil, the third colourway in a series that changes nothing but the cloth and the ink. Jason Nocito is a New York photographer whose books work by accumulation and abrupt cutting rather than by caption or narrative sequence; the Pud books are that method at its most compressed, and the uniform covers make the three read as one object issued in parts.

Dashwood has published most of Nocito's work, including the long End Or series of small books; twelve of those are in the collection along with all three Pud volumes.
