Let's Have a Talk: Conversations with Women on Art and Culture

by Lauren O'Neill-Butler
Karma · 2021 · Paperback

A collection of over 80 interviews with women in art, music and writing, drawn from thirteen years of Lauren O'Neill-Butler's work as an interviewer and editor.

Most of the conversations first ran in the interviews column on Artforum.com, which she edited for eleven years. The book has two parts: "Q&A", in conventional question-and-answer form, and "As Told To", where she recasts the conversation in the interviewee's own voice. The subjects include Judy Chicago, Yoko Ono, Carolee Schneemann, Nan Goldin, Sophie Calle, Joan Jonas and Donna J. Haraway. Karma published it in New York in a 456-page paperback.

O'Neill-Butler is a writer and educator and a co-founder of the magazine November. The book gathers the interviewing that formed much of her career at Artforum.
