Eleventh Finger

Eleventh Finger is a monograph of work by the Japan-born, Paris-based photographer Yuki Onodera, published by the Tokyo imprint Art Beat Publishers in a hardcover edition.

The 60-page volume gathers a body of Onodera's photographic work in the artist's characteristically conceptual register, in which everyday objects and staged tableaux are photographed in ways that ask viewers to reconsider what they are actually seeing. The book is produced to Art Beat Publishers' design standard for its run of small-edition artist titles, bilingual in Japanese and English.

Onodera trained as a photojournalist in Japan before moving to Paris in 1993, where she built an international practice spanning photography, sculpture and installation. Her work has been shown at institutions including the Maison Européenne de la Photographie and included in major surveys of Japanese photography; Eleventh Finger sits within a prolific run of small-edition artist books that punctuate her larger gallery and museum projects.
