How to Disappear in America
Seth Price's How to Disappear in America is an artist's book that works as a handbook of evasion, assembled entirely from information found on the internet.
It was published in 2008 as the catalogue for Price's exhibition at Friedrich Petzel Gallery. The book takes the form of the 1960s countercultural manuals that gave instructions for dropping out of mainstream society. Its advice concerns the practical side of using current technology and avoiding capture by law enforcement. The first printing is a sewn hardcover in a dust jacket, offset printed, 95 pages.
The Leopard Press, New York, issued the book, and it has been reprinted at least twice since 2008. Petzel Gallery lists a later hardcover printing under a different ISBN with a red cover and 96 pages.
