Good Life by Richard Prince

Good Life

by Richard Prince
Glenn Horowitz Bookseller · 2003 · Wrappers
Published for an exhibition at Glenn Horowitz Bookseller in East Hampton, Good Life presents Prince's photographs of someone else's collection of books on design, photography, cooking, fashion, and interior design. He stages these books against shifting backgrounds composed of his own artworks, publicity stills, paperbacks, first editions, and CDs. Curator John McWhinnie's introductory essay describes the result as 'an almost surreal still life of books, judged by their covers.' The project examines how books function as objects and how their visual presentation communicates cultural value.
