Terrestre

Terrestre is a photographic study of rural France by Arnaud Pyvka, published in a 156-page hardcover by the Paris house Marc Bervillé Éditions.

Pyvka's colour photographs move through the French countryside, its landscapes, weather and the people who work and live on the land, building a portrait less of any single place than of a persistent, unglamorous rural condition. The book includes a text by the writer Julien Carreyn and was designed by Myriam Barchechat, at a trim size of 20 x 29.7 cm.

Pyvka works between documentary and landscape photography, and Terrestre belongs to a body of work concerned with the physical, working land of France rather than its cities. That subject is carried by his photographs and by Carreyn's accompanying text alike.
