Anthill (Meteorites) documents a way of living more than a set of finished artworks. The artist's own house is studio, stage set, and subject at once.
Rebetez made the book in the secluded family home in the Swiss Jura where he grew up. With a circle of friends and collaborators he builds sculptures, masks, and makeshift sets, then photographs the results as a private, ongoing theatre. The 66 black-and-white and color images move between straight documentation and staged tableaux, populated by masked figures caught mid-ritual in cluttered, half-built rooms. The pictures are raw and handmade. Reality and invented narrative are left to intertwine rather than separate.
Rebetez is a Swiss artist working across photography, sculpture, drawing, and video. This kind of DIY world-building runs through his practice, extending the same characters and objects into installations beyond the page. RVB Books, the Paris photobook publisher behind this softcover edition, also issued a signed, numbered print edition alongside it under the same title.
Notes
Confirmed exact title as 'Anthill (Meteorites)' two ways: it is printed on the physical book's spine (visible in the cover photograph downloaded from RVB Books' own CDN) and it matches Open Library's cataloged title for the sole edition on record. RVB Books' shop listing itself shortens the title to 'ANTHILL' in its page title and URL slug, but the object carries the full parenthetical title. Per house style the subtitle field is left null; '(Meteorites)' is treated as part of the main title rather than a separate subtitle. RVB Books also sells a distinct special edition under a related product page (augustin-rebetez-anthill-special-edition): a signed/numbered piezo ink-jet print, edition of 50 -- a print product, not a second edition of the book, and not represented in this record. Language, LC/OCLC bibliographic data, print run for the standard trade softcover, and the exact color/b&w split of the 66 images could not be confirmed; WorldCat and Google Books API blocked all requests with 429 throughout this research pass. Author biography kept narrow, limited to facts corroborated by RVB Books and Open Library; a specific birth year could not be independently reverified this session and is omitted rather than guessed.
