Touching Strangers
Aperture
· 2014
· Hardcover
A series of large-format portraits in which a photographer asks strangers to pose together in physical contact.
Renaldi began the project in 2007. He works on the street with an 8 x 10 inch view camera, meeting people in towns and cities across the United States, pairing them up and inviting them to pose as close friends or lovers might. Aperture published the book in 2014 as a 120-page hardcover with an introduction by Teju Cole.
Renaldi is an American portrait photographer. His earlier books include Figure and Ground (2006) and Fall River Boys (2009), and Manhattan Sunday followed in 2016.
