Peter Saville: Estate 1-127 by Peter Saville

Peter Saville: Estate 1-127

by Peter Saville
JRP|Editions · 2008 · Softcover

This monograph surveys the visual career of Peter Saville, the designer whose sleeve work for Factory Records reshaped the look of British record design from the late 1970s onward.

The book gathers 240 color images spanning Saville's early record covers through his later gallery-based projects, and pairs them with essays and personal responses from artists including Wolfgang Tillmans, Robert Longo, Sarah Morris and Sean Snyder. It was published to accompany a presentation with the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zurich, and was named one of the Most Beautiful Swiss Books of 2007.

The volume situates Saville's commercial design work alongside contemporary art practice, tracking how his image-making for music and fashion has been read by artists working in other mediums.
