You Can't Drink It If It's Frozen is Dash Snow's contribution to the Purple Book series. It is a small artist booklet issued with the Fall/Winter 2007/2008 issue of Purple Fashion Magazine, edited by Olivier Zahm and published by the Purple Institute, Paris.

Snow worked in the raw, diaristic style he was known for. The booklet gathers Polaroids and snapshots of parties, friends, drugs and downtown New York nightlife, printed with little editing beyond the order the pictures were taken in.

Snow ran with Dan Colen, Ryan McGinley and the wider downtown New York art scene of the 2000s. The Purple Book format was cheap, fast and tied to a single magazine issue, which suited his snapshot method better than a conventional monograph would have.
