The World Through AI: Exploring Latent Spaces by Antonio Somaini

The World Through AI: Exploring Latent Spaces

by Antonio Somaini
JBE Books · 2025 · Hardcover

The catalogue of the 2025 Jeu de Paume exhibition on how artists have worked with artificial intelligence over the past decade, edited by Antonio Somaini.

The exhibition, at the Jeu de Paume in Paris from 11 April to 21 September 2025, showed works made between 2016 and the present, many of them previously unseen. It separated “analytical AI”, such as computer vision and facial recognition, from generative AI. The book follows that approach with critical and experimental positions, a foreword by Quentin Bajac, and texts by Ada Ackerman, Noam Elcott, Tim Trombley and others. Artists represented include Christian Marclay, Trevor Paglen, Hito Steyerl and Julian Charrière.

Somaini was general curator of the exhibition, with Ada Ackerman, Alexandre Gefen and Pia Viewing as associated curators. The book is published by JBE Books with the Jeu de Paume.
