We will never be so close again
We Will Never Be So Close Again is Jules Spinatsch's book of portraits made at traffic lights in New York, Zurich, and Paris between 1997 and 1998.
Published by Kodoji Press in Baden as a "recycled book" softcover edition, it runs 48 pages with 10 black-and-white plates and 21 color plates, at 16.5 by 23.5 cm. A special collector's edition paired the book with two signed, numbered c-prints from the series, President (1997) and Girl Red Car (1998), in an edition of 25 copies each; both editions are now sold out.
Spinatsch's wider practice examines surveillance, tourism, and public space, in projects that include a hotel-room series, the Davos studies gathered as Davos Is a Verb, a century of automobile history in the Bergell valley, and Asynchronous VII, on nuclear waste storage. A retrospective, Jules Spinatsch: 1964-2155, runs at Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur from August to November 2026.
