Tummy Ache: The Horny Issue by Tummy Ache

Tummy Ache: The Horny Issue

by Tummy Ache
Tummy Ache · Magazine

The fifth issue of the independent magazine Tummy Ache takes desire as its subject and looks at horniness as an emotional and cultural state.

The issue runs to 116 pages at A5 and gathers interviews and writing on bondage, consent, fetishism, feminism, identity, intimacy and morality. Interviewees named on the cover include Katherine Angel, Phanuel Antwi, Vex Ashley, Stefan Dickers, Josh Rabineau, Alan Sears and T. Venkanna. Each issue of the magazine takes one emotion as its theme.

Anna Morrissey, who founded and edits Tummy Ache from an East London studio, started with embroidered T-shirts printed with anxious faces and turned to a zine during lockdown. The first issue, Growing Pains, dealt with adolescence. Later issues took vulnerability, jealousy, laziness and loneliness before this one. Morrissey calls the issues emotional encyclopaedias, meant to give readers words for feelings they lack language for.
