XY XX is Fosi Vegue's first photobook, a voyeuristic sequence shot through a window facing a row of rooms where sex workers meet clients, its digital noise pushed to the point of abstraction rather than erased. Where most photographers try to eliminate sensor noise, Vegue amplifies it, letting the exaggerated grain blur and distort the scenes into something closer to afterimage than document, a visual analogue for the subconscious operating beneath the transaction he's watching. Critics have compared the project to Merry Alpern's Dirty Windows, though Vegue frames the act of looking explicitly as a study of control: prostitution and pornography become social problems only when a system decides they should be, and the photographer's own stolen vantage point replicates that same structure of surveillance and permission. The book was edited by Vegue and Eloi Gimeno, designed by Gimeno, and published by Dalpine in 108 softcover pages. It received attention in Voices of Photography (Taiwan), IMA Magazine (Tokyo), and L'Oeil de la Photographie (Paris) following its 2014 release.
