(Inter)Faces of Predictions
(Inter)Faces of Predictions, a collaboration between writer-researcher Megan Williams (b. 1995, London) and visual artist Sheung Yiu (b. 1991, Hong Kong based in Helsinki), examines how faces are read across cultural and technological contexts to attribute character traits and forecast the future.
The project sets East Asian face-analysis traditions and Western physiognomy alongside contemporary facial-recognition technology, with Yiu analysing his own face to show how historical belief systems and modern algorithmic procedures reproduce remarkably similar biases.
Archival material, photographic work, and technological methods are woven together to bridge historical discourse and contemporary AI critique. Co-published by Spector Books and the C/O Berlin Foundation in connection with the C/O Berlin Talent Award 2025. 640 pages, thread-bound softcover. Trilingual: English, Chinese, German.
