Michael Williams: Things You Shouldn't Understand

Things You Shouldn't Understand is a book of drawings by the Los Angeles painter Michael Williams, published by Karma in New York in 2017.

The drawings are built on the way marker bleeds through a sheet of paper. Each image is repeated in mirror form and meets a new image on the facing page, and a cast of creatures twists through the sequence. The paperback is 8¼ by 11½ inches with 69 color images. It was published on 23 May 2017 in an edition of 750, and D.A.P. distributed it. Karma also issued a portfolio of five silkscreen prints under the same title.

Karma published other drawing books by Williams around the same time, among them How to Ruin an Omelet and Traditional Cornish Cottages. Williams was born in 1978.
