Barbican International Enterprises · 2019 · Paperback

The catalogue to the Barbican's 2019 survey of artificial intelligence, which set the history of AI beside work by artists and research labs.

AI: More than Human ran at the Barbican Centre in London from 16 May to 26 August 2019. It was conceived and curated by Barbican International Enterprises, co-produced with Groninger Forum, and shown as part of the season Life Rewired. The exhibition traced the idea of artificial intelligence from Japanese Shinto animism and the golem legend through Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage to AlphaGo. It also presented commissions and projects by artists and researchers including Memo Akten, Joy Buolamwini, Stephanie Dinkins, Mario Klingemann, Anna Ridler and teamLab. The book runs to 235 pages.

Chloe Wood, Suzanne Livingston and Maholo Uchida are credited as its editors. Barbican International Enterprises produced both the show and the book.
