Un universo pequeño
Spanish photographer Antonio M. Xoubanova's second book compresses images shot along ten meters of a single street into what he describes as a 2.5-second film of his own imagined universe.
Xoubanova has described the project in his own words: "Un universo pequeño representa mi imaginario del universo en 2,5 segundos y 10 metros lineales de calle." It compresses his imagined universe into a brief span of time and a short stretch of pavement. The 464-page book sequences roughly 250 color images touching on technology, religion, love, matter, and the everyday texture of a city block, treating the street as a site where the largest human questions surface in passing, unremarkable moments. It follows Xoubanova's first book, Casa de Campo, and was co-published by the Barcelona press Ca l'Isidret Edicions and the Japanese imprint Rondade in an edition of 800 copies, with a special edition of 10 boxed copies including a signed print and a text by Iván del Rey.
The project accompanied Xoubanova's first solo exhibition with Ángeles Baños Gallery in 2015 and was later shown at Photoforum Pasquart.
