You can click away of whatever you want: That's PUNK collects Herbie Yamaguchi's black-and-white portraits of musicians he met while living in London, and takes its title from words Joe Strummer of the Clash gave him when Yamaguchi asked to photograph him on the London Underground.
Yamaguchi moved to London at 23 and stayed roughly a decade, working odd lodgings and photographing musicians he encountered by chance, including Boy George, before later photographing more musicians on assignment for Japanese music magazines and record labels. The book, published by Super Labo in an edition of 1,000, collects 31 photographs in a hand-sewn softcover printed in doubletone offset.
Yamaguchi began photography at 13 while recovering from spinal tuberculosis, and has described the pursuit of hope as the recurring theme of his work since.
